Cant add music to slide show

How do you add music? The mpeg files on my comp do not seem to be supported
by powerpoint. Is this because of a software problem or an operator error?

Music or videos? Mpeg is a video file. You would use Insert > Movies and
Sounds > Movie from File. Let us know it that clears up some confusion or
causes more>
