Can't backup and delete projects

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Email Client: pop

I have tried to backup and delete Projects, but at the end of the process I'm told "that I have stopped the process before it ended" (sorry translated from Danish) - and nothing happens. What can I do?? I have now more than 60 projects and need to clean up.
