After just a few days of use, importing all my Eudora files, building
up calendar, tasks, projects, I CAN"T QUIT Entourage 2004 without Force
Quitting! I paid all this money ($400 and can't find an answer)!

-I've reinstalled Entourage 2004
-downloaded/installed updates
-ran through the Entourage database utility
-read all the suggestions on this board and tried their techniques
-made new identities to switch to
-verified permissions

I'm using OSX.3.9 on a G3ibook. What a mess!

Somebody help all of us!

TIME OUT! I think I found the solution!!!! So far, it seems to hold
true as I'm starting up and quitting without a problem. It seems those
third-party sound sets that one can use instead of the default cause
the "wont quit" problem! So if you're not able to quit, switch back to
Microsoft Entourage 2004 default sound set.

I found it at this link

"Entourage Won't Quit

Bob Springer
I just upgraded to Office 2004 and now Entourage will not quit. I have
tried all normal things such as repairing the databases and changing
identities and such. I spent some time with Microsoft support to no
avail. I am running 10.2.8 on my G4. I ran Norton's with no errors
other than the normal minor errors.

Nothing else is wrong, but I have to force quit every time I want to
shut down Entourage. What happens is the windows close, but the toolbar
remains and I get the spinning beach ball while the mouse is over the
toolbar. I have let it sit for ten minutes or so, but nothing changes.
MS thought it might be a memory problem, but I have 896Mb of RAM so
that is not it.

Entourage Won't Quit

It turns out that the problem was the sound set I was using. I had a
sound set I had obtained from SoundCentral.com some time ago. When I
switched to either the default sound set or the Microsoft set
everything worked fine."

Choosing the default Microsoft sound set solved this problem for me
too. I'm sure it didn't always cause this problem, as I've used other
sound sets for a few years.

Has anyone found a way to have _both_ a different sound set _and_ have
Entourage quit properly?

I have the same problem but I never changed any of the sounds. After a
dozen emails back and forth with microsoft they stopped responding and
the problem still continues.
