Can't contact pop3 server

Environment:
Windows XP SP2
Office/Outlook 2000

Outlook intermittantly says it can't contact the pop3 server. The user needs
to shutdown and reboot the PC. Happens very often, continously throughout the
work day.

This is happening on 2 PC's. All other PC's in the network are set up the
same way and work fine.

I have applied the latest office service packs and updates.

Anyone seen this problem? Any ideas?
