Can't delete a mail message - Exchange / Entourage 2008

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Email Client: Exchange

I have entourage set up to connect with my exchange server. All appears to work fine (receiving mail, creating mail, sending mail, calendar, contacts...I can delete calender entries and contacts). I cannot delete a mail message. When you try to delete a message it just keeps the message header and moves up to the next mail message

I have deleted the entire mail account and set it up again. Same thing.

Originally I set this up to work through a Cisco VPN...I deleted that account and set it up again using the OWA server address vs. internal...same thing -- everything works fine with the exception of deleting a mail message.

I set up an IMAP account using entourage and can delete messages fine under this setting.

I've downloaded the latest updates for entourage -- still no relief.

Any ideas would be appreciated -- this doesn't make sense.

I am experiencing the same problem. Just before it occurred, I was notified
by Entourage that it had detected a corrupt Office database and that I needed
to rebuild, which I did. After the rebuild, I am not able to delete any
messages. I have since verified and rebuilt the database again with the same
results....

Update:

1. Under a new profile on the same Macbook Pro I set up a different email account using Entourage interacting with the same exchange server using OWA. This account had a different user name and password. This account worked fine – I was able to delete messages. All items were synching fine.

2. I then set up, yet another profile and set up a another email account using the original user name and password (we'll call this The NEW ACCOUNT) using Entourage interacting with the same exchange server using OWA. This account did not work fine….although it was set up with the identical parameters to the account above(difference being only the user name and password). Once again this new account was unable to delete a message in Entourage under this account.

3. Using the same user name and password that failed on the Macbook Pro to delete a message I set up a new 3G IPhone that uses exchange/OWA access and that works fine – messages are able to delete.

4. We checked the permissions and setting on the exchange server the permissions under different account AND new account are identical.

I'm totally stumped!

Then the parameters appear to be OK.
2. I then set up, yet another profile and set up a another email

delete a message in Entourage under this account.

This tells me that there might be a corruptio on the account on the
server itself, or a bug in the implementation of OWA on the server. It'd
be nice to be able to make sure that the server is fully up to date and
had all the latest patches applied.

3. Using the same user name and password that failed on the Macbook

access and that works fine ˆ messages are able to delete.

The iPhone is different. It does access the Exchange server, but it
doesn't do it through the same protocol Entourage does. It uses
ActiveSync.
Entourage goes through OWA and Outlook through MAPI. That's not a really
goo text for this purpose.
4. We checked the permissions and setting on the exchange server
the permissions under different account AND new account are identical.

It could be a corruption of the data... I've seen it before. I connected
through Outlook and trashed a few problematic items and it all went back
to normal.
Identifying the problematic items is not always trivial though.
I used port sniffing to monitor the traffic (we were connecting straight
- not through SSL) and I saw where the whole thing was choking every
time.
