Can't delete messages

I just purchased and installed entourage 2008 for Mac. I have set up my Windows Live Hotmail account to forward my email to Entourage, that's fine.

However, when I have read my messages, I can not delete them from Entourage. If I attempt to do this manually, I receive an 'error code 17590'.

If I go to the 'Tools' menu > 'Run Schedule' >' Empty Deleted Items Folder'

Nothing happens. Can anyone please help? I am about to drown in read emails!!

Is this a POP or IMAP account?

Try this solution for Hotmail:

What you see is not an actual message on the Hotmail server, but rather an
item that got stuck in Entourage's cache. Right-click/ctrl-click the Hotmail
icon in the folder pane and select "Empty Cache" from the contextual menu.
This will force Entourage to re-download all the messages from the server
and should delete any cached messages.
