Hi I have opened and message in my Inbox and when I choose Edit
Message or click the icon - both are greyed out. I'm using Entourage
2004. Thanks.

Is this a POP account?

Entourage does not support editing Exchange messages. For IMAP messages, it
appears you can edit a message, but you are editing only the copy in your
local cache, not the "original" on the server.

Hi, thanks for your reply. The account works in 'Exchange Mode' to get
email from Kerio mailserver. Does this still mean it won't edit? Can
you edit Outlook/exchange accounts?

I'm not an exchange support person, but my understanding is that no exchange
mail can be edited.

Yes, Entourage can not edit email on an Exchange Server. (Not sure if
Outlook can even do that. Never tried.)

I did have a Microsoft person at MacWorld 2007 show me a work around. He
suggested copying the message locally to "Folders on My Computer", edit
the message and then copy it back to the Exchange Server. However, I
believe this will not preserve the original date and time.

Hope this helps! bill

I'll second that. I believe it's a security feature.

Not really a security feature, more a case of the message original sits on
the server itself, and Exchange doesn't have the hooks to allow you in there
to edit it. The copy on your computer is just that - a locally cached copy.
If you were to be allowed to edit that it would only cause confusion when
you check your exchange account from another computer and find the original
message still there. This does happen in IMAP accounts, and does cause
confusion.

Thanks for the explanation. : )
