Can't find Excel 2000 Type Library

I've got an Access 2003 database and was writing code to automate Excel 2003
using early binding. Everything was going great until my client informed me
that they forgot to mention the output should be in Excel 2000 and *not*
2003; ugh.

So, I installed Excel 2000 (only) alongside my Office 2003 DE install w/o a
hitch. Went to remove the reference to Excel 11 Object Library and add a
reference to the Excel 9 Object library....only it's in the list.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

FWIW: From what I've read, each new version of an Office product, in this
case Excel, becomes the default and *only* reference available for the
specific Office product available for selection in the References listing.
So, to use early binding, I'd have to uninstall Excel 2003 and then
re-install Excel 2000. However, after speaking with my client, the access
app could be developed in 2000, so we're removing 2003 and keeping everything
in 2000.

Out of curiosity, is there a reason they don't make each specific version of
an office product available via references? Seems crazy not to, but I assume
there is a good reason for it.....

You get any version you want that's installed on your machine. In the
References window, just hit the BROWSE button and go find the .OLB file for
the version you want.

Tom,

Thanks for the reply. I haven't seen that documented *anywhere*, and it's
still perplexing why it just wouldn't be available in the references
listing....

But, sure enough, when I browsed to the excel9.olb and loaded it, the
reference to Excel 2000 OL showed up.

Thanks again!
