Can't get email to Send Consistently - AOL

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel Email Client: pop Works sometimes and not other. No apparent trends ... just random. Have revisited account settings over and over, ad nauseum. I'm so frustrated. This isn't rocket science ... it's just email. I have never had this problem with software before.

Is there anyone that can help before I lose my mind?

By the way, I can't contact Microsoft for help. I purchased Office 2008 from Mactopia. Microsoft says the product number is invalid for this country (US). I also understood that I get two free support calls to Microsoft within the first six months, but if Microsoft won't accept the Product Number, you can't contact support.

I'm stuck in a Catch-22. I'm using student version.

Sounds like AOL is the problem. Do you have the Advanced setting under SMTP
and receiving mail set?
