Can't get MPG files to run in Power Point

Jeffrey

I cant seem to get MPG files to run in my PPT presentations. They work fine
on anoither computer inthe house, but not my new DELL. The movie just goes to
a white screen, and stays there till I advance to the next slide.

I have added in all the .drv in the system.ini and updated the mci
extensions in the WIN.INI

Exactly which kind of MPG files are you having the problem with?
MPEG1, MPEG2, MPEG4?
If it's MPEG2 you likely need a decoder/DVD player (WinDVD, PowerDVD). If
your new Dell didn't come with a DVD drive that would be why no software
codec is loaded. Otherwise, follow the Echo..............TD

Is this on a Windows XP SP 2 system running PowerPoint 2003? If so and if it
isn't the path length problem that Echo mentioned, it might be a known problem
that has no work around at this time other than converting the MPG to WMV or
AVI.
