Can't install Office 2007 Ultimate upgrade over Office 2000

Hi,

Office 2007 Ultimate intalling runs until it is about 80% done,
then flashes a message about not being able to read a Registry key,
the shuts my laptop down. Do I need to uninstall Office 2000 first?
What else can I do?

Without knowing what that error message says, it could be almost anything.

You shouldn't have to, but you could try.

What is the error message you get, and what is the registry key?

Are you installing as administrator?
