What happens if the recipient follows instructions, saves to disk & attempts
to open the saved copy? That's the way it *should* be done on Windows
systems

Window users who open attachments by double-clicking directly in
an email message are just begging for trouble on several levels.
The only thing you need to be certain of on your end is that you (a) use the
option to append extensions when saving the file and (b) use your email
software's option to send Windows-friendly attachments (either Apple-Double
or UTF-8 encoding). Additionally it's a good idea to use the Zip & Mail
option rather than sending "naked" attachments - mail servers & virus
software on the Dark Side may render it useless if you don't.
