Can't play PPT file from web

B

Bill Clark

Running Windows XP Professional, Office XP Professional and have all
critical & recommended updates and patches. When clicking on a link to a
PPT file on a web page, the status bar of IE immediately says "done" but
nothing happens. If I do a save-as and save that same linked presentation
to a local or network drive, it will then run fine in PowerPoint. Any
suggestions? I have not custom-configured IE for security or anything else,
it is standard how it was shipped.

It is possible that you aren't allowing enough time, despite the "Done" status.
The presentation has to be downloaded to your temp folder and then PowerPoint
has to be told to open it. During that process you won't necessarily see any
activity on the screen. Can you right click it and select Open?

On the other hand, see if the tips at
http://www.rdpslides.com/pptfaq/FAQ00189.htm are of help.
