Can't rebuild Entourage database using option key

J

Jamie

I am having some problems with Entourage that I have previously fixed
by rebuilding the database. However, I can no longer do so - when I
try to start Entourage while holding the option key down, I only get a
message window offering to "Show in Finder".

Any thoughts?

Make sure you are not pressing the Control key , as that is the expected
menu when you Control-click the the Dock icon for Entourage. Try the other
Option key and see if that works. Lastly, make sure Caps Lock is off.

No luck with your suggestions. I forgot to mention that I work on an
iBook (500MHz) so I have only one Option key. Again, all I get is a
callout offering me to "Show in Finder"

I was running 10.1.5 when the problem stated. Trying 10.2.6 now and
problem continues. The fonts are now different in Entourage as well. I
would prefer not to reinstall the Entourage if at all possible.

There appears to be something wrong with your Option key then, You'll need
to get it repaired.

You should only be getting "Show in Finder" with control-click or
right-click on a two-button mouse. You don't perhaps have a Kensington,
Logitech or Microsoft mouse that can reprogram various buttons, do you?

I don't have a mouse. I will bring my computer to a service centre.
Thanks for you thoughts. (FYI, noticing that some information in my
Entourage contacts list is disappearing - e.g. I have an email list
that recently had 55 names. It now has 5.)

I have a pro keyboard and am having the same problems. Can't get to
the rebuild screen. Everything else is turned off, including the
database deamon and I cannot get to the rebuild screen. Holding the
Apple/option key seems to have no effect whatsoever!
Any ideas?

Piotr

PS I know it works 'cos I make plenty use of it or keyboard shortcuts

Are you holding both Apple(command) and Option keys?

Just so we're clear.....Hold just the Option key when starting the rebuild.
