Can't receive emails from adresses with an apostrophe in the address

We converted from Lotus Note to Exchange 2000/Outlook as our email system. Now people that we reqularly exchanged email with can no longer send us email. They all bounce back. The common denomiator is an apostrophe in the email adress like maryO'(e-mail address removed). Preciate any help
