can't recognize attachments

About a week ago, I started receiving jpeg attachments as "Attachment
(multipart-appledouble document)" with a blank icon next to the file
names. These files has no extension. I even send to a friend with a
jpeg photo and cc to myself and receive the same email with the photo
converted into "Attachment (multipart-appledouble document)." I can
see the image in the body of the mail, but once I download it, I can't
open it from there because the file can't be recognized. I can
manually add .jpg extension to the file and it turns into a photo.
Not so big deal when I only receive a few jpegs but a real trouble
when I get many photos at the same time. Why is this happening, and
how can i fix it?? Thanks!

Go to the Entourage menu and choose Preferences > Compose > Attachments >
Encode for Windows (MIME/Base64). This will set your default method of
encoding attachments to the one that works best with most kinds of files.
That should solve your problem with attachments you *send*.

As for *receiving* attachments, to a certain extent you're at the mercy of
the sender. You may want to check with them to see if they're doing
something differently. They may need to make a change similar to yours.

JPEGs over 400KB will not show up. Otherwise they should show in a message
or as an attachment. Be sure you download the complete message.
