Can't save in Word as limited user

I am working on a system running Window XP and Office XP on a Novell
network. Any user with limited access is unable to save in Word; the
save dialog box never appears. Administrators are able to save, but
that's a good way to get hacked.

Beth Melton responded to a similar post in May. Per her suggestion, I
started Word as a limited user in the troubleshooting mode (Start | Run
| winword /a) and was able to successfully save.

No global templates are in use.

I added the COM Add-In command to the toolbar, but no COMs appear.

The user also has Acrobat 7.0 Pro installed, but the COM must be
registered via the registry.

Any help would be vastly appreciated.

Don't kow if it will solve the issue of save dialog not appearing, but
similar symptoms (trouble saving) have led me to think that MS office
has a "failsafe" way of saving documents, saving with a temporary file
name first, then deleting the original file (if one exists) and renaming
the new file to the correct name.

If true, that means the user needs Write (for the actual saving), Modify
(for renaming), Filescan (for updating the directory info, which Office
needs as confirmation) and Delete rights to a folder to be able to save
documents, and enough free storage space for the document to be saved. I
have found those rights to be sufficient for MS office saving on Novell
(although Read access is normally desired, too).
