Can't see groups in Contacts from Exchange server

C

Costas Manousakis

Just managed to connect Entourage 2004 on Mac OSX1039 to an Exchange server
2003 sp2. I also access the same account from a windows outlook, and I had
created several distribution lists in my contacts. On the Mac Entourage I
cannot even see the distribution lists in the contacts folder, nor can I
create new ones ( the new group function is greyed out). I can see the
distribution lists when using OWA, or Outlook 2001. Are there any such
limitations in contacts?

TIA

Entourage is not able to access your address book groups stored on the
Exchange server. You'll need to move them over to your local address book
using copy & paste.

I'm seeing this same problem.

Are you saying Entourage is not capable of accessing groups on the Exchange
server, or are you saying it is a specific problem to these setups?

TIA

An Address Book Group that you create in Outlook or OWA will not show up in
Entourage. You need to create the Group in Entourage.

An Address Book Group that you create in Outlook or OWA will not show up in
Entourage. You need to create the Group in Entourage.

And you should create it in the Local calendar (On My Computer). By a rather
neat feature, that's what will happen automatically even if you select only
Exchange contacts in the Exchange address book and then click "Add Group"
button. Don't be alarmed not to find the new group in the Exchange address
book, it's "On My Computer".

The reason for this is that, as Adam says, groups don't sync properly with
Exchange. So if it were "in" the Exchange address book in Entourage, you
could lose it when maintenance is done on the server and also when doing a
database rebuild in Entourage.
