Can't send a particular email

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel
Email Client: pop

I seem to be able to send some emails, but on one particular email which is being sent to a large group from my address book, it will not send it. The error says:
Requested action not taken: mailbox name not allowed. Error: 17099.

I have tried changing the name of the mail box, but that doesn't seem to help.

Any suggestions?

Sounds like there is an error in one of the addresses to which you're trying
to send. Look for spaces, commas, or bad characters.

Or else the group has more names in it than your ISP will allow in one
e-mail. Many ISPs limit the number of recipients of a single e-mail in
order to make SPAM more difficult. For example, several ISPs allow no more
than 50 addressees in one e-mail.

How many names are in your group?

I used both Adam and Ed's suggestions. Found some errors in addresses and sent it in smaller bunches. And it worked.
