Can't send attachments via MSN

I have scanned my PC for damage from Blaster, Welchia and
the latest virus but have no damage; yet when I try to
send an email with attachments of any size, below 1kb, the
system reports a send failure, server timed out.

Is the fault on my end?? If so, how do I correct?
