Can't send email from Exchange account at home

I've got a PowerBook G4 with Entourage 2004. I have my Exchange account
setup and it works fine when I am using it on my institution¹s network.
However, when I¹m at home I can¹t send any email from that account. Is there
a workaround for this?

I believe the problem lies in the fact that Entourage does not give the
option of authenticating to the SMTP server. My campus network requires
authentication when you are off campus, but not when you are on the network.
I proved this by setting up my Exchange account in good Œol Mail, and once I
specified my credentials for the SMTP server, I could send fine. But I can¹t
do this in Entourage.

Any ideas?

It might be a limitation the Net admin enforced on your server. THat's
the case for me here too. They only allow local trafic for sending
e-mails...

What I did to workaround this is that I created a POP account witht he
same e-mail address info, no POP server address but I entered the local
SMTP (your ISP SMTP)
I dismissed the warning telling me I was missing a POP server address
and I use this account for sending mail from home ;-\ Tedious, but at
lest it works.

Interesting.... Indeed, I don't see anywhere you could set that up for
the Exchange accounts :-(
