Hello all,
I am having trouble sending out email at the moment. I
think it may have something to do with the SMTP service
in Windows XP IIS 5.0. When I first installed IIS 5.0
after installing windows XP I unchecked the SMTP service
and did not install it (thinking i would not need it) to
send email out. Anyhow, after setting my email account
up in outlook 2002 and filling in the correct incoming
and outgoing servers I was not able to send - could
receive fine. The smtp server address is correct and
when i do a "Test Account Settings" it ticks all boxes
(including Find outgoing SMTP Server) but does not send
the test email message. It returns an error "Send test e-
mail message: Unable to send test Message. Please verify
the E-mail Address field." I have checked this and this
is exactly fine. I then tried another account i have -
the same thing happens.
I then thought that maybe SMTP service needs to be
installed for IIS 5.0 on my machine even though the SMTP
server is actually my ISP. I installed it and it is
running as a service - but still the same problem
occurs. I have disabled my firewall for testing purposes
and reboot several times and I AM connected to the
internet.
How am i meant to get this working?
Thanks,
Jesse
PS. Would appreciate any suggestions!
