can't SEND emails - Error 17897

I cannot send any emails from Entourage. (Receiving is not a problem).
I am currently running Mac10.4.7 (Intel), Entourage 2004 11.2.5 --
with recently installed update AUOffice20041126EN. I have been using
my new Mac Mini and the Entourage program for a couple of months and
have never had this problem before. Now whenever I try to send mail I
get an error messge # 17897: "Authentication failed because Entourage
doesn't support any of the available authentication methods."

I have done everything I know how to do. I contacted my ISP, re-setup
both accounts. (I have Entourage set up with both a POP and an IMAP
account and I double-checked with my ISP to make sure all the account
set-ups are done correctly and also contacted my IMAP -- Everything is
OK on their end.) Quit and opened Entourage (after re-setting
accounts) and rebooted computer.

My ISP (I have a DSL line from bellsouth) is saying they have found a
messge saying that Entourage no longer supports POP3s. Is this
possible?!

Got great tech support from Microsoft. Issue was NOT about Entourage
and POPs. It was simply one of corrupted account settings. Although
the ISP tech had tried to walk me through a correction process earlier,
it took slightly different directions from the MS tech to make it work.
Created new identities/new accounts. All is good.

Entourage doesn't support the requested authentication method

It includes an error code of -17897.

Entourage no longer works with POP3-based MSN accounts. You'll need to
convert the account to a Hotmail-based account, which Entourage can then
handle just fine. To do this, download MSN for Mac OS X and walk through the
setup assistant. It will convert the account for you automatically.
