Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel
Email Client: Exchange

I formulate and send as I always have - exchange server is same for two years, and same operating system and software for two months working fine. Message is stuck in outbox and message is "unexpected data encountered" - ran cocktail, rebuilt database, nobody in our office has this problem.

I too am having a problem both with new calendar invites as well as in responding to invites. Target is Exchange 2003sp2 ... running the new 12.1.3 upgrade (everything worked fine in 12.1.2).... get 2 errors:

"Could not synchronize record: Calendar Item to Exchange server: EMC Corp Email" Error -18576

and

"Unexpected data was encountered." Explanation: "Mail could not be sent.

Account name: XXXXXXX" Error: -17997

It's a known issue in 12.1.3. MS is working on it,

Is there an update? This problem is almost week old and my company's calendar is broken because of this.

calendar is broken because of this.

The problem is only about two weeks old. Microsoft has identified the
issue, which is specific to the 12.1.3 update, and must work on a fix.
Then they must test and refine a patch. Then they must make sure
whatever they release does not break something else. That takes time no
matter what size the company.

Nothing is preventing you from removing Office and re-installing up to
version 12.1.2 in the meantime. If you have a Time Machine backup then
replace your Microsoft Office 2008 application folder, which is even easier.

Hope this helps!

Big miss in regression testing, though. Strongly suggest you add Send/Reply to Event Invitation to your standard test suite prior to releasing a new patch.

How can I get the 12.1.2 update? I reinstalled Office 2008 from disc, then
applied the service pack update to get to 12.1.0. But the MS Updater only
shows 12.1.3 and I can't find a discreet 12.1.2 package to download.

I try to keep the links to the old updaters here:

Here is the link to 12.1.2
