Can't send or receive email in outlook 2003

I want to use Outlook 2003 to manage email but each time I try I get an error
code 0x8004010F. I am using bellsouth.net and I have protection with symantec
internet security. Can someone help. (e-mail address removed)

1. Congratulations, you have now posted your real email address for all of
the spammers who slurp these news groups looking for new addresses to send
their crap to. Never use a real mail address, use a munged one or just make
one up.

2. Have you tried turning off the mail scanning in NIS? It often is the
root of the problem.
