Can't Use Entourage after a Reinstall

Hi, Mac Update (10.4.10) caused all of Office 2004 to crash. I have
done an archive/install and have also reinstalled Office 2004. All
apps are functioning except for Entourage. When I try to launch it
(either from the icon in the dock or the apps folder) I get this error
message: This Identity Cannot be Opened with this version of
Entourage.

I even tried removing Office entirely (and emptying trash) and
reinstalling it a second time. Same thing.

Thoughts? I have an Intel Macbook, 2G processor, running OSX 10.4.10

There was a change in the database during one of the early updates to
Entourage 2004. All you need to do is update and your database will be
functions again. The latest is a combo updater 11.3.5. Note that it will
only update Entourage to 11.3.3.

Microsoft does not update each application every time an update is released.

Hi everyone,

I have reached the same situation as this on my G5 2.5GHZ Mac. I tried
the method above and I and I can't get ANY of the updaters to work.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app and get the "This Identity
Cannot be Opened with this version of Entourage" message.

I have gone backed to 11.1.0 update and it just hangs everything and
nothing else seems to work....

Help!!

It sounds like you aren't updated. If the updates aren't taking, try running
the latest Apple combo updater. Doing so overwrites potentially
problem-causing files. Several users have reported this fixed some odd
problems they were having with Entourage. Combo updaters will install on the
same version as they¹re applying‹no need to roll back or do a clean install.

Are you saying the combo updater for OSX or for Office:2004?

I was running at 11.3.3 for office and 10.4.10 for OSX.

I can't get the 11.3.5 combo updater to work. I now can't get
Entourage to launch...

Everytime the MS auto update ran it said to update but it could not
for the last 2 updates of office. I have done the permissions repair
with disk utilities as well....

Entourage needs a stable base on which to work. You need to get your system
stable first. I would also use "Remove Office" to remove any Office files
that could be corrupted. You'll need your CD key when you install!!!

Well the 10.4.10 combo update has been installed, Remove Office used
and Office reinstalled

Still nothing....

The first time it asked which Identity to use when I started Entourage
then it went back to the same old message "This Identity
Cannot be Opened with this version of Entourage" message.

Then the 11.3.5 Combo updater can't find the files to update.

This is getting extremely frustrating....

This is because the version of the identity you are trying to use does
not match the version of Entourage you are using.

I wonder if there is a way to tell the version of a given identity...

Doesn't matter about the identity as I have not had / been able to see
that option again...

I can get another user account on the Mac to use Entourage but only at
11.0

No upgrade will work on that user.

Next step is to try and reinstall/import an upgraded version from my
laptop onto the G5.

Probably fraught with danger....!
