capitalized first letter

Q

q1com

I have tried to find a way where I can type a lower case initial letter
on a line and NOT have it capitalized automatically by the spell
checker.

I don't want to turn off the auto-correct spell-check feature--just to
tell it not to take control of my capitialization...that's MY business.
any suggestions?

Go to Tools | AutoCorrect and uncheck the "capitalize first letter of
sentences" box.

This may have a more extensive effect than you wanted--Word, Excel, and
Entourage all use this same dialog (probably PowerPoint too)--I am not sure
there are any settings that will only take effect in one program, but I
haven't checked.

Tools/AutoCorrect. Uncheck just the "Capitalize first letter of sentences"
option. There's no way to restrict that to just turning off just
capitalization of first letter in a line - it will also turn off
capitalization after periods.

Each application's AutoCorrect option affects only itself. You can turn off
this option in Entourage and it won't affect Word. If you want it Word too,
you need to make the change in its own Tools/Autocorrect.

Thanks very much, Paul. Since they all use the same ACL, I wasn't sure
about the checkboxes, and a true test would have required too much quitting
and restarting. :)
