Carring over totals

I have a workbook with 12 worksheets, each representing a
month of the year. I use this for month end inventory on
all stock at work. I am trying to get the end totals from
one month to automatically carry over to the start total
for the next month. I have already tried hitting = in the
end count column, and then hitting enter in the next
months start count column. I cannot get the totals to
automatically input, even though the formula at the top
says it should. Help me please, I am a newbie at this.

One way is to use a match for a number larger can you could have to find the
row and then index that
=INDEX(Sheet4!J:J,MATCH(999999999999,Sheet4!J:J),1)
will find the largest value in col J on sheet 4. ASSUMING the total would be
the largest.
