Categories not appearing in the in-box

I have several (100's) email addresses in my address book assigned to different categories for work purposes. Now, all of a sudden, when I receive mail, no email addresses in my address book are being assigned to thier specific category. I have tried everything, including the troubleshooting in the general preferences. Any help is appreciated.

Check Entourage/General Preferences/Address Book: "Automatically match
message categories to senders categories" at the bottom - it must be checked
for this to work.
