Hi, I have a lot of emails every day from a particular forum. The senders are
all different, but it comes from one place. I have tried categorizing the mail
email address, not each individual, to one particular color, but it only
changes the one message. I want all mail from this forum to be one color to
help sort it out from regular mail. The address is in my book, and
categorized, but it never comes through in color, only black. Can anyone help?
Thanks very much!
Use the Mailing List Manager to create a rule. If one of the messages is
open, Entourage fills in the list data. Select the folder you want the
messages to be moved to. This way they are not in the InBox. The Mailing
List Manager also asks you to add the list address to your Address Book.
When you add, set the category....but since they will be moved to a folder
it's not necessary. I like to see category for specific members. One I use
on lists is VIP. Once you find out who the experts are, add them to your
Address Book and assign category VIP. When you are in a hurry, you can just
check their replies to find good answers.
Rule Basics:
There are 3 different kind of rules in Entourage:
Mailing List Manager (MLM)
Junk Mail Filter
Rules (custom rules you create)
They run in the order listed above. The custom rules also run in the order
they are listed. (top runs first)
Use the MLM for all lists. Use rules for the remainder. Try to use
categories instead of individual addresses when possible. When a new address
is added to a contact in the Address Book then it will automatically be
acted on by the rule if you use categories in your rules. See example:

1) POP Rules act on a message ONLY when it first arrives in the Inbox (On My
Computer), NOT when it arrives in any other folder. Once it's moved to
another folder it won't be seen by rules.
2) IMAP Rules are meant to act on a message ONLY when it first arrives in
the IMAP INBOX, not when moved to another IMAP folder.
3) Exchange Rules act on a message ONLY when it first arrives in the
Exchange Inbox.
Each type of account has it's own rules. Click on the correct tab to check
your rules. (Mail (POP), Mail (IMAP) Mal (Windows Live Hotmail) Mail
(Exchange), News, Outgoing)
