CD Code

I bought a Mac G4 about a year and a half ago, and it came with Office
X installed. Today I downloaded Entourage upgrade 10.1.2. When I try
to open Entourage, I get a box that asks for my "CD Code" from "the
book that came with your software".

I don't have such a book. My software came with my Mac, in a
cardboard envelope.

What to do?

If you bought your computer new, then the version of Office v. X it had may
have been the free demo Test Drive, which should have timed out long ago,
after 30 days. You would need to buy a full version. Or have you been using
it all this time?

If so, and the computer was not brand new, then you probably had a pirated
version of Office. Those won't update.

If you're sure you have a valid copy of Office, phone up MS support. If you
have some proof of purchase that's convincing, they'll quite likely give you
a CD key.

If office was pre-installed on a new computer, it was just the 'test drive'
which has limited functionality and expires after 30 days.

You need to install a full retail version.
