CD ROM does not read disk

I have Microsot Suite 2002 and am
trying to do a reinstall but nothing is
being read by the drive. Is it possible
the disk has been erased somehow or
is there updates to do before reinstalling?
I have had this disk for quite a few years and
done a few reinstalls and do not understand this.
Is it possible I need to purchase another disk or
is there someway to contact Microsoft regarding this?
