cell bg color vs. date

Is something wrong with this formula? Or did I copy it wrong? Cause
try to do this and nothing happens either.
=AND(A1>=DATE(2004,10,25),A1<DATE(2004,10,27)

where have you entered this formula?. In the conditional format dialog
under 'Formula'
