First answer seemed to work, but look at this:
I want to change from

450
420
400
420
400


into a matrix like this:

value frequency
450 1
420 2
400 2

Use a Pivot Table. In the layout section (step 3), drag
the Value field to the ROW area, and drag it again to the
DATA area. Make sure it says COUNT OF VALUE. These 3

Since you've started a new thread, I don't know about the "First answer."

But, in general, there are at least three ways to get what you want.

(1) The array-entered worksheet funtion FREQUENCY.

(2) The Histogram tool of Excel's Analysis ToolPak add-in.

(3) The COUNTIF worksheet function.

Another method is my Better Histogram add-in, available at www.treeplan.com.
