Hi,

Entourage 2004 creates each message-id for a newsgroup posting with my
e-mail address; like this:

<BD38672A.3550%[email protected]>

RFC 1036, chap. 2.1.5 says:

"In order to conform to RFC-822, the Message-ID must have the format:

<unique@full_domain_name>

where full_domain_name is the full name of the host at which the
message entered the network, including a domain that host is in..."

My provider would generate the correct message-id for me, when the
message-id is not generated by the client. Can I tell Entourage not to
create its own id?

Thanks.

Entourage generates Message-IDs as (once?) suggested by MESSFOR,
although I'm having trouble finding the specific reference.

I'm crossposting over to news.software.readers, someone will know.

I am still figuring out what is right or not but just for your info, RFC822
is obsolete. It is revised as RFC2822. I am not 100% sure but as long as I
read RFC2822 briefy, the way Entourage creates Message-ID is ok.

Nice to hear - I hope it is so. I'll try to get a few more opinions
before smashing the one who told me to trash Entourage because of its
"wrong" ID. :)
