Change the subject of a received email

Still trying to move from Outlook to Entourage. . . making slow
progress...

I saw a Feb 08 posting here that looked like there was not a way in
the Entourage 08 version to change the subject of a received email
for easier identification/filing. Does anyone know if this is fixed or
if there is a workaround?

Many thanks!

Removal of edit subject was unintentional. According to developers- when we
changed the appearance of mail headers, the dev removed this feature. Adding
it back in after the change ended up being very risky and we decided to
focus elsewhere. Download Edit Subject script and place it in your Entourage
script menu items folder inside the Microsoft User Data folder to change
subject.

I tried the script after downloading it and it doesn't work. It doesn't change the actual subject of the message. What I mean is that the subject appears changed in Entourage, but if I look at it in Webmail or on my Entourage client on a different machine (i.e. at home) the subject of the message is unaltered. This makes it rather pointless. I did try a similar script that worked for some messages on the server as well as in Entourage, but not all. Is there a way round this behaviour? I need the subject to be changed so that if I access it from another machine or Entourage client, the change shows up. Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

Generally speaking, these scripts only change the subject lines of local
messages; the copies of these messages stored on the server are not
affected. What you might do is copy the message, once its subject line has
been changed, back to the server, and then delete the original message. Keep
in mind, however, that this will change part of the meta information, such
as date sent and date received.

Thank you for your prompt answer, but it seems the answer is no! Your work around is interesting, but I confess that I don't know how to copy the message back to the server. Please can you tell me how to do this.
I thought of forwarding the message to myself with a new subject and deleting the original, but this is less than ideal.
I find it hard to believe that I am the only person that needs to access my messages from another client or location, but have not found any other similar predicaments on the forum. What I find odd is that one of the scripts can change the subject of some messages on the server, but not all of the messages. Clearly it is possible? Perhaps this behaviour will be addressed in the new Entourage patch (no use to me thought as my organisation is still on Exchange Server 2003).
