Changing Background PP XP

Have PowerPoint XP:

I'm using the presentation template TRAINING for a training presentation.
However I do not care for the background. I want to use the regular
template Shimmer for the background. Is it possible? If so, how?

Thanks,

Anthony

Well, the easiest thing is to just apply the Shimmer template to your
presentation, but you'll lose the font settings, color scheme, and the
layout of the placeholders. The "real" way is to make a change to the
Training color scheme, changing the background color to RGB=0,0,102 and then
copying and pasting the background graphics from Shimmer to Training and
sending them to back. Finally, save it to a new name so that you can re-use
it.

I've done it for you and you can find it at
http://www.soniacoleman.com/trainshimmer.htm. Just click on the image and
save it anywhere on your hard drive temporarily. Then see the tutorial at
http://www.soniacoleman.com/Tutorials/PowerPoint/powerpoint_templates.htm to
determine where to permanently save it so that it will be in your own
gallery of available templates.

WOW! Not only did you show how this can be done, you did it TOO. Thanks!

I checked out your site, and downloaded the file. I thought I could put it
in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Templates\1033\TrainingShimmer.pot
where the rest of the .pot files are stored at. But for some reason, when I
go to new and click on the template link, it's not showing. I guess this
location are just for the ones that came with PowerPoint, and the newly
created ones are in the general tab. Correct?

I also noticed 3 links to: Microsoft legacy templates from PowerPoint
4.0-2000 available for download. These are 3 template file sets.

Are these only for PowerPoint 2003? If so, where can I get these for
PowerPoint 2002?

The legacy templates can be used in all versions.

If your templates don't show up in PowerPoint 2002, create a folder called
C:\Documents and Settings\Anthony\Application
Data\Microsoft\Templates\Anthony's Templates. Then, when you click on
General Templates in the task pane, there will be a tab for your templates.
This folder can contain templates you create or templates you buy or
download, etc., but you'll know that they didn't come with Office.

Hi,

Yes, that's the folder where I put the trainshimmer.pot file in, since the
first one didn't do what I expected. It shows in the General Template Tab.

I will download the legacy templates, and create a directory Legacy and put
those there.

THANK YOU!

When installing Legacy, first had to be an administrator. Second it put all
the templates in the administrator's Application Data/... Templates folder.
It didn't give me a choice. So after the install, I copied these to my
regular account, application data/... Template/Legacy ... and it's all
there.
