Changing display address

When you post to newsgroups from Entourage is there anyway to change the
email address to something like [email protected] to eliminate spam?
(Just for news postings, for emails real address is fine)

Yes, this is easy.

Create a "bogus" email account, that has a bogus address and other
information, and make sure it is *not* included in your automatic
send/receive.

Then, in your Microsoft news server account, set the email account to the
bogus account you just created.

This is how I do the [email protected] address.

I have done just this. Here's how:-

Create a new account in the usual way, except:

1. I would add .invalid to the end of the email address (allows mail
applications to recognise it as a dummy address);

2. Use your usual receive (SMTP) server but don't specify a POP server (you
only want to *send* news messages);

3. When you click OK to create the account you will get an error message
about missing information (i.e. the POP server). Just click OK here as you
don't want to receive mail to this account - Entourage will go ahead &
complete.

4. For each News account, point the email address at your dummy account,
and Robert's your Mother's brother!
