Character Set problem in Rules

Running OS X 10.2.8, with Office 2004. I¹m trying to set up a rule for my
Exchange account that changes the default character set for messages from
particular users. However, the choices for available character sets are
three only: 3 different, single Kanji characters! This despite the fact
that if I format a message manually, all the usual choices are available
(Unicode, Western European, etc.)

I even went back to edit a Rule I had established for a POP account, and it
too only displayed those same 3 choices. Very strange...

Has anyone seen this? What can I do to fix this?

Quit and restart entourage ­ the selection list should be fixed.

This is a Œknown issue¹ - a bug where it has proved hard to track down the
repro steps that cause the problem with the display of that menu.

That fixed it. Thanks, Barry. If it helps, I think I changed the character
set of a specific message, then went to create the rule. Maybe that¹s the
key. After I restarted Entourage, I went straight to rule creation...

It turns out the trigger is viewing a complex HTML message. After you do
that, the menu will be messed up until a quit and restart.
