Chopped Sent Email Text

More and more when I send a full page email, several paragraphs are chopped
off along with my signature. Happens with both HTML on or off.

Is this happening with others and is there a fix? I've just upgraded to
OfficeX 10.1.5, and I've got Max OSX 10.2.8.

Thanks a lot in advance. -- Bob

This problem gets reported from time to time. When I have investigated
previous reports they have always been a result of the user's mail server
(usually at the ISP) failing to properly handle lines where there is a
linewrap at a period (full stop). This occurs when the period is in the
region of character 72 on a line, and it gets wrapped to a line of it's own.
Entourage handles this quite correctly, by adding an extra period, so the
line contains a double period. This can be verified by watching the TCP
stream with a tool like TCPFlow. Some mail servers have a bug where a line
with double period is treated like a line with one period only - it acts as
an 'end of message' signal to the smtp stream, and so your message gets
truncated at that point.

Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do at your end (short of not using
periods). Just kick up a stink at your ISP and get them to update/change
their mail server software.

Entourage interprets any line that begins with "-- " as the start of a
signature. If you are replying to a message containing such a line, it will
be truncated at that line.

Do you have any such lines?

No, I think Barry's thought might be closer (period) Happens in both new
messages and replies (period) It's after a period but not necessarily 72
characters (period) It just happened again (period) Here's the text:

Tell the boys there won't be any guarantee on the suite but we'll do our best.

Don't worry about them, they had their little bit of heaven. We can find
always find somewhere else to say, even back in Kona at the King Kam,
Outrigger or I'll get a condo.
Lets talk about the hula thing.

I know, this group is a little more sedate, kind of like physician's mutual.
HERE"S WHERE IT GOT CUT OFF I'm sure their not going to want to come up on
stage and dance the hula with the Joes.

But we do have our hula dancer for a couple of numbers, the bubbles song,
and our stories behind the music ("Growing up in Paradise").

Yes, in my earlier response I said 'in the region of 72 characters', because
I don't remember what the exact number is/needs to be.

Make sure you tell them that Entourage is properly following the rfc and
putting a double period on the line and that this can be verified by
watching the outgoing data stream with a packet sniffer.
