Clearing Deleted Messages from Deleted Folder

I have a number of messages in my Deleted Folder that do not clear.
Some are about a year old. I have gone to Tools-Schedules-Clear
Folder, but this has had no effect on the persistant old messages.

It is slightly difficult to answer that question without knowing for sure
which e-mail you are using. Since you are posting from a MSN account, I will
assume that this is the account in question.

The items you see in your Deleted Items folder are copies of the messages
that are on the server, and Entourage stores these messages in a cache file.
Occasionally, an e-mail remains stuck in the cache file and does not get
cleared properly. To get rid of it, ctrl- or right-click the account folder
(i.e. the folder that contains your inbox and other folders) in the folder
list and select Empty Cache from the contextual menu. This will force
Entourage to clear its cache and redownload every message from the server,
which should solve your problem.

If your MSN account is not the one causing you trouble, post back and give
more details about the type of account and version of Entourage you are
using.

Thank you for responding. I emptied the cache however, all deleted
items were reloaded. Still got 'em! Any other suggestions?

Create a new Identity and see if the messages can be seen and/or deleted
there. This could be a sign of database corruption. Using the new Identity
will eliminate this as a possibility.

Note that for Hotmail/MSN accounts in Entourage, you can't manually
delete/clear items from the Deleted Items folder. It can only be emptied on
the server side.
