Click date range on timescale and highlight vertically

I'm currently using my finger to position the week I want to view while I
scroll up and down my Gantt chart! :p
Would like to suggest Project allows user to click on the date range in the
timescale so that the whole column(s) can be highlighted --> similar to Excel
when you want to highlight several columns.

Good Suggestion. In the mean time, use the drawing toolbar to create a
colored rectangle, then right mouse click on the rectangle, select Order and
move it to the back. Once you have created it, move it wherever you want it,
including earlier than the project begins. You may be able to write a macro
that aligns it with the currently selected task.
