Clickable links in msgs open up browser but get blank page, not URL?

Don't know what I've done this time around. Fairly new installation
but my clickable links in messages open up a blank page in my browser
and not the desired URL. Have tried everything I know, but haven't
been able to fix this. What am I looking for to fix, pls? Tx!

After seeing this and knowing that it wasn't an issue of updates but
an issue that somewhere along the way I did something, I kept looking
and looking.

I found steps that fixed the problem. I didn't remember exactly what
the issue(s) was/were, only once before there'd been difficulties with
a DDE setting (which is what I couldn't remember). Anyway, didn't
know if that would fix this particular problem but stumbled around and
did find solution thanks to this page:
