just purchased office for students(the other selections at the store were upgrades). i cannot add a clip art to an E-mail. did i purchase the wrong version of office?

How are you trying to add the clipart?

Have a look at Tools --> Toolbox --> Object Palette. Click on the third
tab at the top. You'll also find this is where you can insert photos
directly from iPhoto.
