Command for closing emails versus Outlook

In MS Outlook, when an email is open, to close the email, you could press the escape key and it will close and you will be viewing the inbox. With Entourage, you must mouse to the red close button and click the red button to close the email.

Is there a quick shortcut keystroke method to close emails without the need to point and click?
