It is not a trial. It has been working fine for many months and I do not
know why this happened. It is Word 2000.

Did you highlight what you want to copy, undo or redo?

I went into tools, customize, edit, highlighted command on toolbar, reset and
after going back to wp it is still inactive.

You need to have text in your document highlighted for those commands to
work.

Yes, I have and can access these commands w/text but not the e-mail command.
When I pull down "edit" from the menu bar the commands are all grey.
