Comparing two columns & counting

How do I count two coloumns to match two variables. This is as far as I have
got:

=COUNTIF(D111:D115,"Liver")+COUNTIF(E111:E115,"Prem")

Please help, getting desperate!!!

If you mean to count co-occurrences...

=SMPTODUCT(--($D$111:$D$115=H2),--($E$111:$E$115=G2)

where H2 houses a condition like "Liver" and G2 a condition like "Prem".
