I am sorry if this has been talked about, I did not see the topic. Nor could
I find anything mentioned at Mactopia.

Has there been any word about compatibility with Panther, or the need for an
update?

My guess is that you'll have to wait for the Official release of Mac OS
10.3 to get an answer :-\
