Complete contact export?

John B.

Mac 10.2.3
Entourage 10.1.1

I exported my Entourage contacts to a Tab-Text document. The raised a number
of questions.

Can I limit the export only certain fields? Or is it strictly all or
nothing?

The Categories weren't exported! Is there a way to export those???

The export lumps all emails into fields: email1, email2 email3 ... whereas
in Entourage some of those are marked as work or home email ... any way of
addressing that?

The documentation is rather sparse:

Export contacts
1. On the File menu, click Export Contacts.
2. Specify a name and location for the file.

.... so I thought I'd inquire here.

John

P.S. I'd like to know if there is a way to sync Entourage email addressses
with my FileMaker contact list? I'd be happy with a one-way solution:
Enctourage udating Filemaker. Suggestions. AppleScripts?

Thanks Dianne, but I'm looking to "sync addresses" not "archive messages."

Entourage will only export the entire Address Book at a time
(File/Export/Contacts to a File) to a tab-delimited text file, which can be
imported by FMP. That won't help you "sync". You could get my Export-Import
Entourage X scripts and use the Contacts-Groups Export from X, and Contacts
Import into X script. The Export script lets you export just selected
contacts, or contacts by category. By adapting the technique described in
the "Synchronizing.rtf" document that comes with the scripts (but you'll
need a separate custom view for contacts), and doing a similar type of Find
search in FMP if you make changes or add contacts there, you could do this.

The Export-Import Entourage X (shareware) scripts also work in 2004. You can
get them at
