Compliant Product

Zam

I have brought Microsoft Office 2000 Professional. It
appeared to be compatible with my system (Windows XP Home
Edition). However when I tried to install it I got the
message "error 1608. Could not find any previously
installed compliant products on the machine for
installing this product". Have I brought the wrong
thing, do I need to get something else to make it
compliant? It doesn't appear to be an upgrade. Please
help!

Hi Zam,

Error 1608 does generally indicate that it's an
upgrade edition of MS Office. Note that MS only
sells those editions in boxed retail sets.

If you have one of the products listed here you
can insert that product CD/disk during Office 2000
installation to satisfy the upgrade requirement.
